When we think of public restrooms, we tend to think in binary terms: men’s and women’s restrooms. A gender-neutral toilet is a toilet that is not segregated by gender but is open to men, women and others. It saves e.g. transgender people or people who depend on caregivers from having to choose the “right” toilet. We have therefore decided to install four gender-neutral toilets in our newest and largest event room on the top floor. This was easy to implement insofar as we were able to solve the division architecturally well.

But just a toilet facility with sterile white surfaces was too boring for us. Da unser Eventraum Heinzigartig heißt (benannt nach dem Gründer Heinz Förtsch), mussten natürlich auch die WCs heinzigartig sein. Instead of men’s/women’s toilets, there is a garden party, a starry sky, a forest and a throne room.

Implementation period: 2021-2022

SDGs: 10
